Among our priorities is that of your complete information about all the events in our beautiful place on a creative, social and cultural level.
We aspire through this page to open even more and more direct channels of communication with all members and friends of the Choir and Music Community.
We hope that in this way we launch something new, modern and practical that will serve both the goals of the board of our Association for the continuous upgrade of our place, and the needs of all residents of our area.
We remain open to new views and suggestions and we are always at your disposal with the hope that we will soon be at a Concert or Festival and have a good time with us.
Velvento, a town of 3,500 inhabitants, is a harmonious residential complex in the prefecture of Kozani. The historic center, the narrow alleys, the traditional and modern houses, the flower-decorated courtyards, the small squares and its beautiful corners, compose a colorful mosaic, lost in a small green plain, full of fragrant fruits and lots of water. And all this tied to a strong tradition and a simple way of life.
Velvento and the surrounding area today give every visitor a unique opportunity for enjoyable, relaxing moments close to nature, with all the comforts of a small organized city.
Velvento is considered the town with a long musical tradition.
Velvetians, especially music lovers, often form eloquent groups – groups that sing old local songs and mainly chants. The improvised festivities, a peculiar cultural event in the countryside in Velvento, called “tsibousi”, in which the inhabitants co-star as choirs, go back more than two centuries and which is preserved to this day, gave birth to the need for choral music tradition and is one of the oldest of the Velvento tradition.
Together with the dances and festivals that took place mainly in the chapels of the village which all have separate halls but also in open spaces, they were (and are) one of the main expressions of Velvento entertainment.
This unique need for expression also gave birth to the choir “Velventines Fones”
